Is Israel testing in teens now because they expect to be done with everyone else soon, or because they really really want to reopen schools, both, neither?
Israel is vaccinating 16-18 year olds because they want to protect them during high school matriculation exams which are supposed to happen starting in a few months. That’s the rationale that was given when the policy was announced, at least. Also they’re close to being done with every one else who wants a vaccine. Official policy is currently that people 35 and older can make a vaccination appointment, but even younger people can fairly easily get vaccinated if they want to.
