Let’s try and fix up that NVC exerpt a little—that might work better on me. “John, I have seen many people push their limits, and I believe you can finish the run. I think you either break through your limits or are suffocated by them, which is why I think it’s vital for you to finish this run.”
Put that way, it sounds a bit like that tired old genre, the sports pep talk.
You are doing the inadequacy analysis the wrong way around.
It may be the case that you know how to teach/coach better than Bruce Lee, but the post is asking you to consider the world where Bruce Lee did what he did for good reasons.
