Knowing how and when explicit communication is counterproductive feels like a hard problem that I’m glad this post brought up. Communicating the things that are hard to make explicit is a hard part of rationality, which this post touches on too.
The post communicated to me both lionhearted’s intuitions around communication and some useful explicit models of communication very effectively.
The post was fun to read.
My biggest hesitations with curating:
I didn’t walk away with a clear takeaway.
I have a hard time summarising the post; it’s quite long and the structure didn’t lend itself to chunking for me.
The hesitations weren’t negligible, I do worry that many readers will not be able to clearly get something out of the post; but overall I did really appreciate reading it and thought it discussed an important problem well—thanks!
