Originally I wrote “It is inevitable that” there will be a politics of the Singularity. But it’s possible (e.g. AI hard takeoff) that a singularity could happen before the political culture digests the concept. So there are two ways in which more time equals more futurism in politics. First, the further into the human future we go, the more futurist becomes the general sensibility. Second, the longer the posthuman future holds off, the more time there is for this evolution of human culture to occur.
