I’d like to work on a hardware project. It seems rather simple (I’d basically start out trying to build this ( pdf / txt )), however, my lack of vision makes it difficult to just go check the nearest Radioshack for parts, and I’m also a bit concerned about safety issues (how easy would it be for someone without an electrical engineering background to screw up the current? Could I cause my headphone jack to explode? Etc). I’m mostly wondering how one should go about acquiring parts for DIY electronics, provided that travel options are limited. (I’ve done some Googling, but am uncertain on what exactly to look for. The categories “transformer” / “amplifier” / “electrode” / “insulator” are quite broad.)
