Within the last few years, Stephenson has worked as a consultant for Blue Origin, a commercial spaceflight company that’s made very little public about its plans and development; Wikipedia claims it’s working on a single-stage vehicle similar to the DC-X but that’s as much information as I’ve seen anywhere. It doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch to suggest that that experience informed the opinions we see here.
