For people (like me) who do take other important oral medications: Mayo Clinic only recommends not taking other medications within 2 hours after activated charcoal. That seems a bit short to me, but after it leaves the small intestine and/or is saturated with other stuff, it can’t really do anything AFAICS. So it seems like it should probably be fine to take activated charcoal at midnight or 2am and take my medications around 8-10 when I wake up. (I’m not a doctor; make sure you understand how medications you’re taking work, especially regarding absorption / metabolism / elimination.)
Oh interesting! I suppose that most medications probably don’t have anything important happening in the large intestine, so an 8-hour gap (both before and after the medication) does sound like enough, when you put it that way. Thanks!
