I think the problem from moving from online to offline is overrated. You don’t even need an AI that’s smart enough to create nanobots via DNA to gain world domination.
The AI can impersonate other humans by faking emails, phonecalls and video chats. It can also simply pay humans money to do services for it.
An AI that can simulate 1000 people with an IQ of 180 for every 1,000,000 home computers in it’s network might be capable of achieving world domination even when it can’t improve it’s capabilities very fast.
