To be briefly negative, it seems more or less completely impossible for this to impact AI outcomes with any reasonable model of the world at all, because it will not provide enough enhancement quickly enough. But it’s a cool direction, and worth pursuing as its own science!
If we get to AGI in the next 5 years I think you’re right. 5-10 years and I’d give it maybe a 20% chance of having a large impact. 15 years maybe a 40% chance. And if we have 20 years or more then iterated meiotic selection may have time to work.
