I’d add the caveat “it can’t be known that you’ve won the argument”. I’ve been in several conversations where I’ve got people to essentially argue away their entire position—but only as long as you don’t point it out to them. As long as they can feel they haven’t lost, they can end up with very different positions from their starting positions.
