Why is everyone linking together cryonicism, life-extensionism, trans-humanism, and the singularity?
Because they are all extreme-minority positions whose advocates often seem to have lost sight of the distinctions between “hypothetically plausible”, “foreseeable”, and “inevitable”.
They are also all subjects where the most enthusiastic supporters are almost certainly deluding themselves.
The reason people are annoyed at the screeds is that rather than trying to construct a representation of the processes we can use to distinguish self-delusion from rational thought, this blog does little but hold up specific examples and assert that they are rational. This is obnoxious enough on its own, but when the examples are of what is generally recognized as havens for bias, people get irritable.
