I don’t think ZankerH was making a serious suggestion.
(Perhaps I’ve misunderstood your comment; I haven’t seen Fight Club. If you weren’t taking ZankerH’s comment as an actual attempt to get CronoDAS to give money to MIRI then I think I’ve missed your point.)
Sure, but—if most LW users could tell that that was a joke, and you couldn’t, then that says more about your understanding of the LW zeitgeist than it does about the LW zeitgeist.
(Of course, I mostly only assume most LWers could tell it was a joke, because I thought it was obviously a joke.)
Oh, crap, the next step was meant to be me sending you my email address and I failed to do that because I was trying to find yours and found it surprisingly difficult. I don’t know how because when I just tried again it took maybe ten seconds. I’m sending you an email right now.
There’s more to life than project mayhem.

Poe’s law: people say creepy things on LW all the time.

Also: some things the “LW zeitgeist” considers a joke are not that funny (EY facts, etc.)
True enough. But not usually quite so irrelevantly as this one would be if ZankerH were seriously proposing it.
Btw, did you end up reading anything of mine? Shoot me an email if so.
