The thing is, if someone does two things A and B with the same post, and I endorse A and reject B, I need to decide which matters more. If wanting less B is more important to me than wanting more A, I should downvote. The fact that I endorse A and want more of it doesn’t change that.
If a downvote will discourage A more than it discourages B, maybe not.
I assume here A is “explaining downvotes” and B is “downvoting something I like”, and I agree with daenerys that downvoting Rhawn’s post will just encourage future downvotes to be silent.
