Yes, there are! Superintelligence, Human Compatible, Precipice, Alignment Problem, Life 3.0 etc. all provide high quality coverage in different ways. But most of them are not intended for a general audience.

The piece of writing that comes to my mind as currently being best for a general audience is Wait But Why’s The AI Revolution. It’s not a book though.
