There are processes outside of the fat cells that can cause them to not release the fat in response to hunger or exercise. Hormones or an absence of hormones or whatever, I don’t know as I’ve never had to think about my metabolic system because I am metabolically priveleged. You can’t take from this comment that he believed there was a difference within the cells. He might have, but you shouldn’t paraphrase quotations like that.
