If you don’t want to do one big post that’s super long, but still want the benefits of that structure, you could try drafting it out, then doing parts of it as shorter posts.
(I don’t know how long of a post you’re thinking of doing, but I’m throwing that out there in case it helps.*)

If you want to do a post about doing posts (or a series of posts) afterwards, there might be interest as well. Or it might just be helpful in a ‘personal blogs are useful notes for their author’.
*Maybe this already exists, but a link FAQ or something about making posts might make a good addition to the open thread text. Or a related tag or two, if it exists.
