Just doing left shifts will scale you up very quickly:

int a
a++
a++  // a = 2
a << a // a = 8
a << a // a = 2048
a << a // a = large number

Sure. But those numbers are like hubs, you need a “local line” to get to a “non-hub” number, which are majority.
