Indeed. Maybe we should instead call them “signaling awareness” campaigns. I wonder how many people would still be interested in participating.
But you’re only talking about those campaigns that you’re already aware of! There may be lots of unknown “raise awareness” campaigns that will find the awareness of their issues boosted if they work hard enough.
