Long-Covid is not an endpoint tracked by any of the studies I’ve looked at. I would think that’d be related to increased viral load and behave like an outcome more severe than just a symptomatic case, but there isn’t data for that.
While I’m generally a person who considers low bureaucracy very important, I think it’s very sad that we didn’t manage to run a single vaccine trials with endpoints for long-covid.
Besides telling us about how effective vaccines are against long-covid it would have also told us about how big of a deal long covid is in general because we would have a controlled setting for studying long covid.
This might have been one of the biggest mistakes of 2020.
