[EDITED to add:] I appreciate that you said “This is fun … empiricism … and I’m sure that’s why you chose to do it”, but nothing in the rest of your comment makes sense if you actually mean that. E.g., how then would a “value of information” Fermi estimate have made the post shorter? and why then would it be relevant to compare the cost of the experiment and post with the time and money the information might save?
