It seems to me your task would be easier if people didn’t acknowledge paperclip maximisers. Humans aren’t going to start maximising paperclips, so your best odds are to do and end run around us. That’s easier to do if we aren’t aware of your existence.
Keep in mind that people could, in theory, be compelled or incentivized to maximize paperclips, or at least to consider paperclips much more important than they are now.
