Sports is not a good example, because it’s entertainment (fun!), so logic is not the most important thing there. Even a rationalist needs to let go sometimes and allow his/her cognitive biases run wild on occasion. Being Spock 100% of the time is boring. This applies only to fans and commentators, not coaches.
On a totally unrelated note, Go Canucks, Boston sucks!
That’s not an action. “If I were commissioner, I would write a rule suspending anyone who engaged in what I or referees considered to be fighting for ten games on each offense,” describes an action one not fighting could perform—writing—that would influence the situation.
Not discussing the mechanism you’d use makes the argument too nonspecific. It’s like saying “If I were President, I’d fix the economy.”
I did not elaborate because it would be too far off-topic. Yours is one way to do it. There are many other way to make the utility of fighting negative for everyone involved. In any case, getting rid of fights is infinitely easier than fixing the economy (European and international hockey does quite well without them, showing that it is not that hard).

You would argue with taking the Snitch out of Quidditch too, wouldn’t you.
I wish I were that smart. But I’d take fighting out of hockey.

Being Spock any of the time is boring, but being rational about things doesn’t demand killing their entertainment value.
No way. You can do badass martial arts. Bring on the Spock!
