I am curious as to why brazil84′s comment has received so much karma? The way the questions were asked seemed to imply a preconception that there could not possibly be viable alternatives. Maybe it’s just because I’m not a native English speaker and read something into it that isn’t there, but that doesn’t seem to me to be a rationalist mindset. It seemed more like »sarcasm as stop word« instead of an honest inquiry let alone an argument.

It seems entirely rational to me to ask what the envisioned alternative is when someone is criticizing something.
