It’s true that—according to my “scooping experiment”, hearts contribute to making the next generation of hearts in much the same way that brains contribute to making the next generation of brains. I’m fine with that.
There are also some dis-analogies, though. Selection by brains did much of the selective work in human evolution—and so they are pretty intimately involved in the transmission of design information about all aspects of humans from one generation to the next. Whereas selection by hearts mostly only affects design information about hearts, and it mostly affects that in a rather negative way: by killing their owners when there are malfunctions.
IOW, the brain is in a more pivotal position to affect the broad course of human evolution—due to its functional role as sensory-motor nexus.
