This all tracks with my lack of self-compassion, as I have also been told that I have an overdeveloped sense of personal responsibility. If I feel responsible for something, I’m not going to be very compassionate towards myself when it goes wrong; I’m going to feel guilt or shame instead.
Perhaps you’re not for something (like blame), you’re against something else (like not improving).
Responsibility: against (not giving it your all), for (figuring out ways to improve)
Things to consider:
The Future: against (blame), for (making changes that increase effectiveness)
If you find blame useful because it motivates/reminds you to do X, then finding some other way to do X without blame (if blame is painful) might make the blame unnecessary.
