Hi I just found site this while looking for “textbooks I should read.”
I recently had this thought in my head that most popular non-fiction books or radioshows on science aren’t well received by scientists working in that field, no matter if it’s Guns, Germs and Steel; Sapiens; Freakonomics; the Hidden Brain; or anything by Malcolm Gladwell. From what I understand, the more popular the book, the more likely it is to focus on an easy-to-market narrative at the expense of a factual and balanced presentation of the evidence.
This isn’t very concrete, just an idea bouncing around my head as a way of introducing myself.
