It seems interesting that lately this site has been going through a “question definitions of reality” stage (the ai in a box boxes you., this series). It does seem to follow that going far enough to materialism leads back to something similar to Cartesian questions, but its still surprising.

Surprising? As the nature of experience and reality is the “ultimate” question, it would seem bizarre that any attempt to explain the world didn’t eventually lead back to it.

Indeed. My hunch is that upon sufficiently focused intensity, the concept of material reality will fade away in a haze of immaterial distinctions.
I label this hunch, ‘pessimism’.
