Gauging interest for a Tokyo area meetup group
I’d like to gauge interest in an (english-language) Tokyo area meetup—given Tokyo’s size, if a couple people are interested, it would be good to pick a location/day that’s convenient for everybody. Otherwise I will announce a date and time and wait in a cafe with a book hoping that somebody will turn up.
I have been to several LW gatherings and have met consistently awesome and nice people, so if any Tokyo lurkers are reading this, I can assure you it’s totally worth it to come! Please make yourself heard in the comments if you are interested.
Just stumbled into this old thread. For anyone else who comes by, there is now an active ACX/LW group in Tokyo, meeting in Nakameguro monthly.

Ah, too bad! I’m just about to move out of Tokyo. I would have loved to participate in a LW gathering here otherwise.
There’s a ~20% chance that I will be back in Tokyo next year, for a period of a few years. So you can count me as 1/5th of an ‘interested’ response
I’m interested and I live here. Certainly as Elo said a Facebook group may help get more awareness. A Meetup group I think would be even better to start with.
I am on vacation in Japan until the end of August, I might be interested in attending a meetup. Judging from the lack of comments here this never took off, but I might as well leave this here just in case.
start a facebook group to generate interest. it seems to be the way to go. maybe you can attract people travelling through Tokyo.
Okay I’ve created a Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/LessWrongTokyo/
(To be sure, I don’t currently live in Tokyo, but I visit there every summer and would be very interested in attending during that time.)
I edited the meetup wiki to include your facebook group for you :). Good luck!
