I think that at least some approaches to no-self do break down the mechanisms by which the appearance of a character is maintained, but the extent to which it actually gives insight to the nature of the player (as opposed to giving insight to the non-existence of the character) is unclear to me.
How does this relate to the whole “no-self” thing? Is the character becoming aware of the player there?
